5 Ways to Make Your Guests Feel Welcome at Your Event

January 25, 2020

Most people would agree that the best way to gather people together is by throwing an unforgettable event. Just think about it — free food, good conversation, and a little dancing combined with a compelling atmosphere are all you really need to get those RSVPs returned. In addition to throwing an absolutely amazing event at our corporate event venue in Essex County, it’s important to make your guests feel welcome prior to and during the event.

To help you create a great impression, we put together an infographic listing five different ways you can make your guests feel welcome at your event. After reviewing these tips, continue reading below for additional information:

Personalize Your Invite

Rather than sending out a generic mass email, take a few extra seconds and personalize each invite. Whether you’re sending it electronically or in the mail, your guest will feel special receiving an invitation with their name on it or one that has a personalized note specific to them.

Avoid Dates With Obvious Scheduling Conflicts

When choosing the date for your event, take a moment to find out if there are any cultural or religious holidays going on that day. Unless the event is specifically put together for a certain holiday, it’s best to stay clear from important days. Your guest could feel unwelcome or simply uncomfortable attending an event that conflicts with a cultural or religious holiday.

State the Dress Code

There is a lot of thought that goes into one’s appearance prior to attending an event.

“Does my outfit fit the dress code?”

“Will I be overdressed?”

 “Will I be underdressed?”

While the dress code may be apparent for certain events, it’s best to state it in the invitation so your guests feel confident in what they’re wearing when they arrive. Whether you’re throwing a birthday party, corporate event, or holiday party, state the dress code based on your theme, as well as the atmosphere of the venue.

Greet Guests During the Event

No matter how many people you’re expecting, try your best to greet each of your guests. This is especially important in a business setting where your focus is to establish and build relationships. Whether it’s a quick handshake or brief conversation, this acknowledgment shows your guests that you’re glad they’ve come and will make them feel comfortable in this space.

Make Sure the Staff Is Friendly

Nothing is more off-putting than sassy wait staff and poor service. When you hire servers for your event at our reception hall in Montclair, be sure to select individuals who are attentive, friendly, and experienced. When you hold your event at The Clubhouse Montclair, you’ll be provided a host that has the ability to make your guests feel right at home!
